……this happened this weekend!!
Thursday, we left bright and early to drive down to D.C, to catch a flight to Kentucky.
Our drive down to D.C, was nothing short of pretty scenery!
We got to the airport & headed to get our tickets.
It was a pretty short plane ride & we finally landed in Kentucky!! It was BEAUTIFUL!
We made it to our hotel right around dinner time. We went for a short run & enjoyed the 80 degree weather. It felt amazing!
What a greeting 🙂
For dinner, we found this great Italian restaurant. Our hotel was located right across from a shopping promenade that had every possible store you could imagine.
Friday, we previewed the course & basked in the gorgeous Kentucky sunshine. We embraced the warm temperatures because somehow the following day it was going to drop 40 DEGREES?!
Caught Bri mid-trip.
Casey wanted to wear the Go Pro 🙂
Friday night, we drove down to downtown Louisville for the banquet. The entire city was already decorated for Christmas!
The banquet was so nice this year. The food was great, the speakers were great, our outfits…obviously great!
Falk loved this team so much because it reminded him of the time he almost ate (poisonous) banana slugs….
Saturday, we woke up early to eat breakfast down in the lobby. We headed out to the course, checked in & before we knew it, it was race time.
Overall, we came in 29th. Maybe not the finish we hoped for, but it was an incredible experience. Four out of the eight of us got to cherish what would be our last nationals trip ever. So lucky to have had the best teammates to share that memory with!
Part of the parent fan club!
After the race, we went out for lunch. Luckily, Five Guys was right across from our hotel 🙂
And frozen yogurt of course!
We ended our trip with Mexican for dinner. The parents came too 🙂
Sunday morning, we started our (long & turbulence ridden) journey back home to Etown.
Kentucky, you were beautiful!!
Another cross country season in the books.
